  • glimpse

today i got to love on some people that Jesus loves a whole bunch!
I got to hug a child, pray with many lovely ladies, tickle countless toddlers on the floor of real cup! i got a glimpse of what Jesus see's.

no better calling and it comes with no title.
    anyone can do it.
    it has no prerequisites.
    just love!
that's all those around us really need!

striving to be more like Jesus in all areas.

  • So while reading Colossians 4:1-6 (msg) these were the things that stuck out to me! Some bullet points!

    Pray for Open Doors
    Pray Diligently
    Stay Alert
    Be Grateful
    Don't forget to Pray
    Use your head
Make the most of every oppurtunity
    Be gracious in speech
    Do your very best

(hey did you notice it mentioned prayer alot!)

v.5-6 "when you are with unbelievers, always make good use of the time. Be pleasant and hold their interest when you speak the message. Choose your words carefully and be ready to give answers to anyone who asks quesitons." (cev)

... love how it says that!!! We are called to be examples and witness to those we come across. For most of us that is in our work enviorments or our free time. So how do you make the most? Be the best example? Well be wise with your time. I don't want to allow idle conversation about the weather fill spaces that could be talking about real stuff. But then again i also don't want to shove what i believe down other peoples throats. Which i think is where v.2-4  come in. Pray! Before, as you work, after work. And let the Holy Spirit direct you and let people ask questions. But be ready.

... today I saw alot of hurting people. Not sure of their whole stories or what has happened in their lives. But i realize that there is more to their lives then appears. Maybe my store in Detroit had to close so that i could be apart of the people lives that i work with now. It didn't make sense at first and I still don't get it fully but all that i can say is I'm going to be alert and thankful (v.3)

"... the goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not to put them down, not cut them out."
    v.6 (msg)

  • The Big Moo

    Edited by Seth Godin

Ok when I saw this title I had no idea what to think…. But then I read the subtitle and it was “stop trying to perfect and be remarkable”. That subtitle got my attention. Plus it came with a good recommendation. So I dove right into a book that I would of just walked right past at Barnes and Noble and loved it. It comes from a business prospective and is comprised with 33 business people who share their thought in short stories. So you and me get to make the application and figure out how it applies to our lives. Kind of fun taking thought about apple, 3rd world countries, big businesses and seeing how it applies to my life!

The story that stuck out to me most was one right in the middle of the book it was about a young man who moved to Colorado during a time that many people were moving there with many different ideas. He moved there and made a name for himself by offering a quality service of roofing that people knew they could trust. While other people were offering glitz and glamour he stood by his product 100%. The thing that stuck out to me the most about this story is that when you offer quality people know they can trust it. Yes the church down the street might have better lighting and sound but what does their discipleship look like? Are people changing? Is there growth?

It was cool to read this book because it helped me to really process the area of my life that I am in. I really want to make an impact in where God has put me. I want to allow God to direct me and not thinking so regularly but allowing God to give me creativity and ideas for ministry and going with it. It was cool to read stories and see how they succeeded.

  • have you ever been the new person?

    at work......
    ..........at school
    or anywhere....

today i was the new person it was interesting...
*i got a chance to put into practice dying to my rights (which i've really learned aren't my rights)
*i saw a girl who is like me when i'm at my worst. very this is how it is... not real welcoming for a newbie.
*also saw another girl who I'm like when I'm at my best... thinking of others.
*rang out towels for someone so they could wipe the counter so their hands didn't get dryed out
*ask constantly for new tasks... cause i didn't know what to do
*meet a lady from nottingham england who had a brillant english accent and has lived here for 9 years
*took a much needed diet coke break... and i sell coffee...

but what do you do when you don't know what to do...
    prayed
    smiled
    laughed
sang to myself... i was kinda bored... everyone else had headphones on
    asked questions
and prayed for God to help me see the situation like he does.
